Oh my god 🙄 I liked this for the first 40% then after they finally get together they are INSUFFERABLE. They start becoming robots and saying the same 3 things and fucking every page. It killed me

Yeah, maybe this just isn't for me.
Not on a body horror level - because honestly, it's not that insane or descriptive of body horror. It feels as if I'm reading a meat processing how-to guide but they replace the word animal with human once every three paragraphs to keep you on your toes.
This book is too much yet nothing at all at the same time. Bazterrica sacrifices actual stakes and growing tension for "shocking" imagery and fanciful prose. This book could be a great look at classism, environmentalism (though it does feel a bit like an aggressive way of promoting not eating meat/be against the meat processing industry - which needs revamping but this just feels pretentious af), and grief, but instead it's just too much talk with very little actual story or substance...
Maybe it's just not for me (and the scene in Chapter 18 was unnecessary and took me waaaay out of the narrative)... Yeah idk, I'll finish it but it's not... outstanding to me.
