This was my first time ever reading The Hunger Games and WOW did it live up to the hype. I have seen the main movies many of times, and I'm waiting to watch the prequels until I'm fully caught up on reading all five books as well, so this is the start of me reading the whole series for the first time!! 🎉

Compared to the movie, this blew it out of the water. The inner dialogue from Katniss was so crucial to her story, and in the movie you don't really get that. I also loved seeing how her relationship with Peeta unfolded and how her thought process went with that because I was always so confused on how it escalated while watching the films.

There will be a little bit more specific spoilers for the book below this!

The ending was so much more drawn out in the books as well, and I really liked that it was. It really showed how brutal the games truly were, and then it even gave Cato a sense of humanity at the end which I feel like the movie didn't do. Also the timeline of the deaths at the end were different than in the movie which I found to be interesting. Also, the interviews afterwards seemed so much more daunting because they had to be there for three hours and then do a whole other round of interviews after that and you get Katniss's thoughts throughout it all.

I'm curious to see how the story will continue in Catching Fire, as I'll be reading that in June! Overall though the story truly still lives up to the hype today, and I fear I'm being launched back into my dystopian/hunger games era 🤭

  • I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S LIVE 😭🏙️🍸💋

Okay but I feel like there are STILL books missing from this quest 👀

Give me your: ✨ messy city romances ✨ yearning in crowded apartments ✨ late night subway/taxi vibes ✨ ambitious hot people emotionally spiraling ✨ rooftop scenes / bar scenes / “meet me downtown” energy

Basically if the city itself feels like a character… I want it 😭
