āļø 3/5 āļø I personally donāt think this was freidaās best book; halfway through, it became painfully obvious and predictable who the ākillerā was and nothing that got revealed truly āshocked meā. also, charly frustrated me to no end!! her lack of self esteem and deliberate ignorance to alllll the red flags made me want to scream šš
however, i always enjoy freidaās writing style and although the plot wasnāt the best, i liked the journey and it definitely scratched that thriller itch for me.

āļø 3/5 āļø sadly, i didnāt enjoy this as much as quicksilver. there were some things i loved but there were a LOT more things i didnt.
letās start with the positives: carrion & onyx ā¦they CARRIED the series in my opinion! carrions character development & relationship with fisher had me laughing and enjoying every minute. and onyx? the goodest boy š¦ ā¤ļøāš„ā¦but sadly this is where my positives end lol
i think my largest critique is the lack of overall plot. by the time i finished, i found myself scratching my head and thinking āwhat was this actually about?ā and āwhat got accomplished here?ā ā¦ugh and donāt get me started on the overuse of the word āmateā and āmakerā - that ALONE made me want to DNF from the jump. it was just excessive and very cringe š¬
in summary: this whole book couldāve been an email ā¦
all that being said; i will still be reading the next book in the series strictly for carrion and onyx! hereās to hoping there will be more plot progression and less āmateā , āmakerā & weird š¶ļø scenes. š«

āļø 2/5 āļø unfortunately, flock just wasnāt for meā¦I went into this one completely blind other than knowing it was a romance, and honestly, I was hooked at the beginning! I really liked the premise and was curious to see where the story was goingā¦
ā¦and then things got really, really weirdā¦
the MMC was basically a walking š©š©š©. constantly gaslighting the FMC, destroying her property, forbidding her from using her phone around him, keeping secrets⦠the list goes on. & while I donāt mind an age gap in a romance, the FMC being only 19 made some of these dynamics especially uncomfortable for me because it was very clear she was young and being taken advantage of by not one, but two menā¦
this also turned into a āwhy chooseā romance, which just isnāt my cup of tea. personally, I like my men possessive over their woman⦠I donāt want them sharing her šµāš« ā¦so, if thatās your thing, you may actually love this one, but it definitely wasnāt for me.
the book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but honestly, not enough was answered for me to feel invested in continuing the series. iāve heard mixed reviews that the books get better as the series goes on, but I donāt think this this one was enough to convince me to keep going. š
šØ š¶ļø ALSO, the spice level in this book is HIGH. like, caught-me-completely-off-guard high š I listened to this on audio and definitely found myself looking over my shoulder at work while listening because I was NOT prepared lol š
