What an unfortunately very relatable character, big big shout out to my fellow over thinkers and thought spiralers and panic attack havers. I really enjoyed the narrative style of the main protagonist, it was very much a stream of consciousness. You were there through every (yes every) thought process. There are some very heavy themes, including suicidal ideation, so proceed with caution and comfort.

What's everyone's favourite book themed/related emoji atm? Mine is 🪼 because it really reminds me of the summer of broken rules for some reason lol

I did a casual stocktake of my bookshelves this morning (I own a collection of around 400 books) and noticed I actually don’t own a physical copy of my top 5 books. My reading has changed over the years and probably use the library more than my younger years but I was still surprised and something I probably should change. Curious to know if there are others out there that own a collection with the same black hole.
Joey_kdt commented on readswithdogs's review of Wife Shaped Bodies
There's been a plague after the end of the world and this tiny eco community is trying to survive. The men are all over 60 and the women are infected with fungus that grows all over reshaping their bodies. Women are supposed to marry these old men and have hopefully healthy baby girls...to keep society alive? And the men pick out future wives at the baby girl's birth because mushroom wives last for a short while.
Super disturbing book. I feel musty and sticky from reading it. It's marketed as sapphic, but it was sapphic in the way anyone would be if your options were old mean men or hot young fungi girl.
I enjoyed it, but mostly for the body horror and fungi stuff..I was left confused about a lot of other stuff.
