These characters are so selfish and stuck in their own little headspaces. It's crazy how each one is obsessed with the own idea of the other. I find them all to be tragic in their own way. Really enjoying this classic so far.

This was a 5 star for me right until the end where I feel like it just...ends. abrupt and not really any type of resolution or anything to wrap it up. But I loved this story and felt this impending sense of dread for most of it. It was also very funny at times and I really enjoyed the character interactions.

Iām 22% into The Compound and completely hooked. The writing is sharp, the tension is building, and thereās this eerie feeling that somethingās just not right⦠in the best possible way. Iām intrigued, suspicious, and dying to know more.

itās a new month, what are some books youāre hoping to read this August?

After finishing a book that was very obviously a debut, it got me thinking about how others rate them. If you know you're reading a debut, does that change your rating? If so, are you more harsh or gentle with the stars you give? I think for me, my rating is usually pretty consistent, but I do have a little thought in my brain that maybe I should be more lenient?? I'm conflicted because if a book is good enough to be published, shouldn't it be able to hold its own against work from established authors? But then at the same time, this is such a hard market to break into... I'm curious to hear what others think!

The writing is really easy to follow and cool. The story has started, but has yet to reach the interesting point.
