Well, color me surprised—the second book was actually a big step up from the first. The plot finally felt like it knew where it was going instead of wandering around hoping to stumble across a destination. The writing was smoother, the pacing was better, and the story kept my attention much more than the first book.

There were a few scenes that genuinely had me laughing out loud, which I wasn't expecting and really enjoyed. The MMC finally felt like a fully realized character instead of just existing to move the plot along. The FMC, however, still felt a little underdeveloped. She wasn't terrible, but compared to the MMC, she was missing that extra depth that would've made her more memorable.

Overall, this was a much more enjoyable read. If the author keeps improving at this rate, I'm actually looking forward to picking up the next book to see where this series goes.
