Post from the Monstrous Regiment (Discworld, #31; Industrial Revolution, #3) forum
I picked up this book after a friend recommended it to me and I am loving it so far! It's hilarious, satirical, feminist, anti-propaganda, thoroughly diverse and that just the first 20%!
I can't wait to see where the rest of the story goes. I have a feeling more than one of the regiment is secretly female...

Delighted! Honestly I didn’t expect it to be quite graphic at times but I guess it’s a commentary on the gruesomeness (I hope that’s a real word) of war so makes sense. Stil, it is incredibly funny and I love Maledictum just lurking around and being annoying / passive aggressive. + Igor. A great regiment indeed.

I absolutely LOVE doing this - it lets me see all kinds of things people have read, are reading and plan on reading. I get off work in an hour and I finished the book I was reading on shift tonight.
So. What I want to know is everyone's Last - Now - Next! I started another one right after, but I am a mood reader and have no idea what I am going to read next.. so I need ideas from you all with your answers!
Last - Fixiation of the Mind by Kira Stanely Now - Black Ties & White Lies by Kat Singleton Next - IDK lol. Maybe the 2nd in the series for my NOW book.

I support women’s rights and wrongs, what’s your favorite story that has to do with feminine or female rage? I’ve read Hungerstone, They Never Learn, and a few others. I have Poppy War on my list to read. Anyone got book recommendations for a lady angry at the world? 🙂↕️🙂↔️

MB, ART, and the gang are all back at it again this time with more ✨emotions✨, alien contamination PTSD, Corporation Rim, intra-Corporation violence, and more unlikely friends.
This was particularly fun to read because I think it was the most 'human' MB has ever been and watching it try to reconcile with its organic parts while the humans and ART all gracefully guide it through its ✨ emotions✨ was simultaneously hilarious and wholesome.
Another fantastic installment in the Murderbot Diaries! Can't wait for the next one! Pls don't delay Martha Wells 🤞

This might be an unpopular opinion, but it is just my opinion. I think I need to stop reading reviews on Goodreads and in general.
I think it's one thing to say you don't like a book, and say things like 'the pacing wasn't for me' 'didn't like the writing style' or whatever else. It's even valid to say you personally hated the book.
But I find it upsetting when people are just intentionally... cruel? Like insulting anyone else who likes the book. Wondering what people are 'on' to enjoy it.
Opinions are personal, not facts. What feels boring, clunky, or frustrating to you might feel moving, brilliant, or comforting to someone else. I don't think criticism has to be mean to be valid, but it feels like people are really just trying to see how snarky and mean they can be.
People have a right to their opinions and how they word things. I'm not saying they don't. I'm not even saying people shouldn't post those reviews. That's their right. I'm just venting personally, and I think I will probably just avoid reading reviews because that's how I can curate my own space. I just wanted to vent a little because I'm having big feelings about it.
(I will say, it really does not feel valid when people go out of their way to post on someone's positive review/post about how they liked the book to insult the book. I think opinions are valid, but it feels so unnecessary to try to bring someone else down.)

Hi all!
I'm currently writing a Greek mythology retelling and I've done so much research for my main characters but I would still love to do more research for some of my side characters- specifically Ares and Nyx.
Are there any reference books I could use to research these two specifically? Their origins, different interpretations of their stories? Anything!

I would genuinely love to watch this imaginary series. I got a small taste of it after watching the Murderbot Diaries on AppleTV and I think it needs to be produced as it's own separate show. I want to watch what Murderbot is watching as is emotional support media!
