I was originally just going to ask what everyone's one favourite book of the year was, but then I realised that I don't think I can actually answer that, so what are everyone's favourite books that they've read so far in 2025?
Bonus points and also cookies (with extra choc chips) if you can convince me to read them lol (I'm terrible at explaining why I love books, so I am forever in awe of the people who can)
Mine are ↷ all of my five star reads are rereads lol send help ↷ In An Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire Where The Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle
favourites in my heart ↷ The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune - this book feels like a warm hug, and i need to reread it at least once a year to retain my already crumbling sanity Eva Evergreen, Semi-Magical Witch by Julie Abe - this book was adorable and had all of the found family vibes I was hoping for. It's very reminiscent of Kiki's Delivery Service in the best way! The Savior's Book Café Story in Another World by Kyouka Izumi - this manga is a book lover's dream, and I cannot emphasise that enough. Even if you're not usually a manga/graphic reader, I urge you to at least flip through it because it will make your heart happy Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones - this book has somehow become the book that I read whenever I get sick/have a flare up and my brain can't handle anything else, so let's just say that I read it for the first time in 2024 and now read it 8 times... it's cozy and so so comforting Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan - I put off reading this last year because I got sick, but I somehow knew that whenever I got around to this, I would love it, and I was right!! I devoured it in two sittings and had to physically hold myself back from immediately rereading it. I don't think I've ever grinned so wide at an ending, and I genuinely think I'll rate this 5 stars when I reread it. 2026 cannot come fast enough. Demon World Boba Shop by R. C. Joshua - I think, of all the books I've read this year, this has been the biggest shock for me. I really thought I would read a few chapters and forget about it, but I have been devouring this series, and I think about it a lot even when I'm not reading it. I absolutely adore the world and how safe it feels. My boy just wants to make boba and help his friends!! 🥹 If you're a cozy fantasy fiend like me, you absolutely need to pick this one up!!

I’ve finally finished the pile of books I’ve had for MONTHS and free to take a small break from reading but nope just bought two new books. It’s exciting but also I thought I would be free. Anyways i bought Babel and What You Are Looking For is in the Library so I’m excited to read them next.

I got a tiktok about this app and I thought it would be a fun way to find new books and talk about them with likeminded people!
Kimnove finished reading and wrote a review...
I honestly bought this book because I wanted a dark academia book, and it was on sale during Black Friday. I've put off reading, worried I would not enjoy it, and I was wrong. From the beginning, I was hooked and wanted more. I wanted to read more, but did not want it to end.

The chilly Fall season always makes me hyperfixated on Dark Academia and wanted to ask for Dark Academia novels recommendations. I’m currently reading (loving) The Secret History and already own Babel.
