Hello all!
Skateboarding season has finally arrived in my town and I’m a lifelong skateboarder. As such, I’ve found myself in a reading slump due to the only thing on my mind being skateboarding. The only content I’ve been consuming lately is skating content. Whether it be, videos, games, or just general entertainment by staying at the skatepark all day. I mean I even spent yesterday putting together boards because it was raining.
I know this is a weird ask but I’m trusting you guys because of the sheer amount of obscure books this community seems to go feral over. I need skateboarding in books. It can be as little as a character mentioning skating or being a self proclaimed skateboarder, I just need something to get me reading again. I recently read Cemetary Boys and the very small, yet somehow still inaccurate, inclusion of skateboarding kind of got me through parts of that book ngl 😅
I’m hoping this goes well, fingers crossed!

From the top of my 🗻 hill, with my last dying breath, I shout “Floppy little paperbacks are a superior to hardbound editions in every way!”
And “Keep your filthy movie/tv adaptation covers off my books! The OG cover is ALWAYS better than whatever capitalistic Hollywood veneer they slap on the front!”
👉🏻 All right, tag, your it!
Silly, serious, unhinged. Let’s hear them all! 📢

hello fellow bookworms! while we clearly all enjoy reading now, did you enjoy reading as a kid for school? did you read all of the books assigned to you, or were you a sparknotes and prayer kind of person when it came to tests? what was your favorite and or least favorite book you read for school?
for me, i always read the books assigned in grade and high school because i liked reading and am a pretty fast reader. however i did read half of Frankenstein at 3 am in the bathroom the night before it was due when i was 13 (#ADHD). college was a bit of a different story, again thank you ADHD, but i at least tried to skim or read some of everything because i hated going to class unprepared. not sure if i could pick a favorite, but man do i remember hating Tuck Everlasting. couldn’t tell you why, but i think i dnf’d the last chapter out of spite.
love to all, thanks for all the fun discussions! 🥰🥰

I had such a good time with this book. I feel like I tend to rate YA higher, easier. But this book felt very raw at points and I really liked the way CG Drews’ prose flowed for me. Within the first couple chapters I knew I wanted to read more of their work. I loaned this from the library but I’ll be looking for a copy for my collection when I reread in the future.
The only thing I definitely wanted more of was the drawings. Specifically, the last drawing Thomas made. I think that would’ve really brought everything together despite being a different subject than the other drawings throughout the book. The art and fairy tales just felt more dispersed at the end and, looking back, it made the beginning feel stuffed with them.
The “let me in your skin” type of love is too relatable and I’m super excited to read more of CG Drews writing!

I'm curious, when choosing your book's edition, do you choose the one you own or do you just choose the pretty one?
For me, I'll admit I choose the pretty covers 😭 sometimes my books may have mismatched covers, as much as it HURTS my soul. I don't want that to be displayed here, so I choose the edition of the book that I would've preferred to get. I did this with An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir! I just wanted all the covers to be having the same style instead of different ones.

Is there anyone who collects physical books after finishing them online? I tend to collect physical books after reading them in my Kobo if I like them so much and I am so sure I'll be reading them again in the future. Much like my The Mortal Instruments and the prequel and sequels and side stories of the Shadohunter universe.
