Librarycrook's Book Journey

Whoaaaa different narrator on audiobook makes a huuuuuge difference. No shade to McCormick but Maslany's inflection is top tier. Just finished chapter 4 and there are already so many things to note. It's so unfortunate that the movie barely includes Madge. Katniss's too-late recognition of "oh I guess she always was my friend" says so much. I also love how instantly Katniss goes into survival mode, the paranoia around Peeta's actions in particular. Even after all the exposition, the evidence of her inability to trust or just have her mind at rest is so telling that she's been heavily impacted by how the world has become what it is. It's so sad.

almost cried on the subway while reading as katniss entered the arena. i’m not sure how i emotionally handled the book when reading it for the first time at around 11 years old. it’s just astounding.
