i get why everyone else loved it but for me it was just a woman having two relationships with two men that sucked. it never really went into depth; despite it being a short story. yes, it was heartbreaking and thought provoking, but i wanted so much more from the writing and plot.

I... finished it. I don't think I enjoyed it but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever read. For the first half, I felt like I was sitting across the table from a girl who was telling me all of the tea and I was locked in because the men were annoying and I felt bad for her. For the second half, I just couldn't get There with it. Also, ya know romance is not for me but I went in still wanting to try it for the literary fiction vibes and because my coworker absolutely loved it but it just wasn't for me. Some of the choices she made, had me like so confused. I don't know

The narration fills a Derry Girls-shaped hole in my heart. Oh the way it captures being an insecure but judgy teenage girl so welll... The first person narration works sooo well for this book.

i wish i enjoyed it more. i wish the characters didn’t feel so one dimensional at times. the plot was reflective, healing and thought provoking. i truly loved closure daphne and eddie got in the end.

i honestly really loved the plot and how it showcases generational trauma and miscommunications. this is my second novel of hers i’ve read and i’ve decided her writing just doesn’t seem to click for me.
