recently finished, and I was left feeling dissatisfied. it honestly seems like the type of stylistic and thematic work best enjoyed accompanied by a thorough discussion. this took forever for me to get through, despite thoroughly enjoying the reflective, almost wistful writing at times. i think it was because i didn't feel particularly connected to any of the characters. what was everyone's experience with this one?

This is a book that I am struggling to know how to review. The descriptions and imagery are clearly beautiful and there are some really meaningful sections that I loved and gave me a new perspective on life and our planet. However it was a difficult read and definitely not something I would recommend reading in one sitting. I read this alongside another book and dipped in and out and think that is the only way I could tackle this.

Today’s been the best reading day in a while. I woke up, made myself a fancy little coffee, got a bunch of snacks, put on my blanket hoodie, put on some fireplace noises, and have been reading for HOURS!!! I am thrilled! There’s also another snow squall warning (I live in Canada and we’ve had 5 snow squalls this month already) so I am eating up my Christmas book bc all the winter vibes!!
My questions for u are what was ur best reading day? What made it the best? And what does ur ideal reading day look like?

When did Bernard become such an awful character. I know he has always had his moments but I've just started to realise how much I really dislike him.

As someone who's not familiar with his works or theater, do you think this is still accessible for me? I'm kinda intimidated, especially since the book opens with a character quoting Shakespeare...
