    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

JP and Taylor have my heart! This series is phenomenal and this book again blew me away. CT Whistle has such a distinct style of writing- combining sub genres and plot lines that flow effortlessly for the reader making it hard to out down but most importantly I think for me is the complex humanity that they imbue their characters with, the challenges they pose to them, forcing them to evolve to grow to seize the opportunity for courage and happiness.

I see shifter omegaverse and a crime plot with best friends to lovers and a mile wide protective streak and I’m already sold because that in itself is unique but the emotions always find me I’m surprised by how much I feel when a character’s insecurity is comforted and cushioned or there is happy large family dynamic or a little boy has a happier life to look forward to that what they have been struggling with

Ofcourse then there is the romance plot, the pining, oh gosh the pininggggggg I am a puddle. And let me tell you even before the burn in the slow burn these two are HOT And swoony and mushy and codependent and beautiful together - absolute sigh worthy!!

I always appreciate how fast the crime plot moves, I loved the little precinct family - Wendy Amil Isla and the hedgehogs

This book hooks you from the first page. The tropes do not do this book justice. It is phenomenal. These MCs, Sam and Ash are at sort of pivotal points in their own personal journey- Sam is grappling with coming to terms with hi sexuality having just been broken up with and is sort of trying to find his place in the world. Ash is surviving!! On the run literally with a slew of trouble and mess left in his wake. They collide at what would on paper be the worst time to find your someone. And yet…. Love find them, shakes them up and binds them together over a journey of days

Man I cannot believe the encompasses only a week or so maybe a little bit more I lost count but it’s packed with the adventure of a lifetime. Lives left behind, lives sought out, a happy ending that’s very very hard fought.

Risa Cruise takes us on the journey, pulls us along with these amazing characters- you make them selves comfortable in your heart - both such good guys who deserve all the happiness- they don’t make it easy for them though. A couple of times my eyes filled up and I was like noooo that can’t be happening why can’t we let them have this Risa Cruise. Well they eventually did give them a very very satisfying HEA so all is forgiven

    Expect:

    • the 90’s in all it’s glory
    • Road trip
    • Sam’s family is lovely you want to meet them
    • Ash’s found family
    • Disability rep (epilepsy )
    • Sex worker
    • Hurt comfort
    • First times
    • Sexual discovery
    • Like I said … way more than the sum of it’s trope

its a fantastic story, it made me laugh, cry, swoon so hard, fan myself cause these guys have CHEMISTRY and left a smile on my face- Sam and Ash will stick with me for a long while.
