I haven't seen the movie yet because I wanted to read the book first, but I'm constantly wondering about how they portrayed on screen that absolutely everything Coriolanus does, which from the outside might even seem like good deeds, are actually incredibly selfish actions. He does nothing for the good of others; he's always thinking about himself, his situation, and how doing something will affect him.

I just find it hard to imagine how this can be translated into a movie without portraying these supposedly "good" deeds as him being a good person at heart, because he's definitely not and he doesn't do those "good" deeds because he's a good person.

Obviously we all know how the story ends and who he ends up becoming, but still i can see only-movie-watchers seeing redeeming qualities in this character but in the book he isn't redeemable at all, at least yet. I can see perfectly why he became President and why the Games became what they were in the original trilogy because of him.
