Reborn is a continuation of the World of Refoged. While reading Reforged first isn’t strictly necessary, it does do a lot to set up the stakes of the world as well as a lot of the lore, so I would recommend reading them in order.
One of Seth Haddon’s strengths is his dialogue. His characters are fun and flirty, and their conversations flow with an ease that never feels forced or heavy handed.
In Reforged we follow Oren and Isra through a tumultuous meeting, fleeing across the country, betrayal, and, gradually, love. Reforged questions faith and what happens when two worlds meet, and their inhabitants are forced to work together through clashing beliefs, language barriers, and warring cultures.
Note: this book contains explicit sexual content.

A masterfully executed multi POV story. The gore and unabashed willingness to embrace the dark and bloody drove this book forward relentlessly.
The characters are strong and unique, each feeling gritty and real. Each reveal felt painstakingly woven into place, ensuring the reader had the information to come to a conclusion as the story needed it to happen.
A book that has me immediately reading for the next in the series.

Haven’t started yet, but I’m setting up my next read, and I had no idea this book was so short!! I’ve only ever seen the movie - years ago. And assumed it was a ‘normal’ novel length book.
Somehow that only makes me more worried about the emotional damage it could inflict in so few pages.

I thought it would get better as I read, but the more the mountains come up, the more I read it as Brokeback, RIP Snaka
