"the english made regular use of only two flavours — salty and not salty . . . for a country that profited so well from trading in spices, its citizens were violently averse to actually using them."

I'm only about 60% of the way through the novel right now, so please no spoilers for the rest of it, but I feel I've read enough of it to form an opinion on what we've seen of the costumes.
Obviously, the film is not out yet, so we can only speculate and the costumes may be different in context & we haven't even seen everything.
I'm finding that I actually like what we've seen of the costumes? I know they've gotten criticism online for not being historically accurate. That's fair. But I don't think they need to be? The novel is highly dramatic, and it seems like the costumes are reflecting that and heightening that drama. (Edit: lol I forgot the film released- I haven't seen it yet tho.)
Very curious to see if this is an unpopular opinion here. What are your thoughts on what we've seen of the costumes so far?

I don't want to finish this book! I'm reading it quickly, and I am already sad about the end. I know how it ends, that is not my point. Simply put: the journey is so fun, beautiful and entertaining that I never wanna arrive at the destination. But I must! I need more books like this one!

I’m not sure if this is the best place to post this (let me know if it isn’t) but would love help with some book recommendations. I’ve had some health issues the past few months and am hoping for some books that don’t require a low of brainpower or thinking (ex: remembering minor details for a mystery is a no go right now, high fantasy has been too much).
I’m open to any genre. I tend to read a lot of romance, fantasy (need easy world building right now though), and general contemporary fiction, but I read a wide variety of genres and am open to any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!!
