I find it wild that Alma named 2 of her kids after Bill Clinton. In general naming kids after politicians is pretty crazy to me. It just feels like such an odd reason to choose a name.

Genre omnivore (coined by CirKater (me)) = someone whi reads all genres and in between and the only criteria for a book to be enjoyed is that its good
Does any of yall fit this description? If yes, do you have a favourite genre? Is there any that you have higher expectations for or just don't vibe with that much? And share your (hopefully genre-diverse) reading lists while we're at it!
For me my favourite genre has to be high fantasy, the longer and more convoluted the better! I'm in the middle of like five 3+ book series and I am having the time of my life!
Funnily enough, my least favourite genre might be romantasy, as it tends to focus less on the fantasy parts and more on the romance. So the romance has to be really dang good for me to be able to enjoy it, which lets be honest is kinda hard to do in a way that pleases me.
My current reading list is: 💥The Eye of the World - Robert Jordan. THE epic fantasy series. For now its taking quite a slow pace (160 pages in and the main plot has not started yet🥲) but I am having fun with it and the worldbuilding is wonderful! 💥Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevski. Despite enjoying it a lot, I'm moving very slowly with it, but thats fine. I started in June and am curretly around 50%. Its not that its bad, but it requires me way more "brain power" than other books. 💥 The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. LeGuin. I'm only at the very beginning, but it seems promising! I love genderweird scifi, so it will hopefully scratch that itch. 💥 False History - Otto English. A nonfiction about common misinformation about historical facts and how those correlate with modern problems. Its not bad, but some of the chapters are not as interesting as others, and the author loves to show his opinions as facts. I agree with those opinions, but still, it is kinda annoying. 💥 Two books that are only out in Hungarian. An absolute garbage fantasy I am forcing my way trough to see how bad it can get, and an essay collection about writing as a craft.

I was scrolling through my TBR today and noticed some books that i couldn't remember adding. And reading the blurb on the books pages made me wonder why I had even add it to my TBR. Does that happen to any of you as well? I’ve resolved once again to keep track of why I add a book to my TBR. But what’s the best way to do that? I’ve just added a comment to the card for my latest TBR addition. But actually, that’s not something you can easily find again. I don’t think you can filter by your own activity in a book’s feed. Does anyone have a better system for this?

anyone know of any books similar to Still Wakes the Deep (indie horror game) ? Loved the original game's concept so much

A very specific rec request, I know 👀
Must need:
Bonus:
I'm doing an Archipelago on the 22nd, and I want to submit a book alongside a game. Basically Archipelago is randomised games connected together, however it's also possible to add in a book! I'll get chapters unlocked (in order :P) through others playing their games, and in turn every chapter I complete it unlocks items and progress for other games. It'll last around 5-8h and I want to play a game as well as reading a book so that's why it needs to be short-ish. The character deaths is because I want to be evil - There's an option to enable Death Link, which allows me to hit a button to kill everyone else with death link enabled in their games :) I figured if I read a book with character deaths, every time a character dies I can hit that button 😄

As far as I understand so far, this book will be filled with some fiction parts and some non fiction parts(the many very short paragraphs said by seemingly random people or newspapers or books, I think?) someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
