4.25⭐️ My first R.F. Kuang book! The mentions of different ancient mythological stories and authors like Dante, Vergil, and Homer really make me want to pick their works up again. The mathematical explanations and paradoxes sometimes went right over my head, but they were still a nice addition to this unique magic system. Katabasis was a lovely adventure — a journey into hell sprinkled with academic hierarchy. Oh, and give me an Archimedes, please!

High stakes, surprising reveals, quests, battles, and redemption. This book had it all! A nicely fitting conclusion to the entire trilogy.

Entertaining story, but currently my least favorite SJM book. I'm curious to see what happens next.

Starting with the final 100 pages…. Let’s see what rollercoaster SJM came up with this time around.

I don’t know how she does it, but Robin Hobb slowly builds an entire world and expands the magic systems, all while making you really care about certain characters. Time flew by while reading this, and although some matters were resolved and revealed, I have more questions than ever and can’t wait for the world of the Six Duchies to expand even more. Let’s see what new adventures Fitz will tackle next.

4.75⭐️ Is it possible for a book to wreck you even more? The Gilded Cage was an exquisite sequel! At certain points, I was too scared of what would happen next to continue reading and now I’m also scared to start the final book. I truly felt Kiva’s torment throughout the entire story, both understanding and not understanding her actions. Despite all the emotional turmoil, I absolutely love our male characters. Each one holds a special place in my heart, especially Tipp and Cal. ❤️
