4 stars! I have not read a memoir in some time, and Jennette did an incredible job. Her dynamic with her family and being a young child star, leading to many heavy subjects, was reflected in the way her book was written. I felt like I was brought into her world, and I was reliving all the stories she retold. Thank you for sharing your journey.

2.75 stars rounded to 3 stars: I would recommend it for the sake of the second book. The beginning of the book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which personally I was not a fan of, but Feyre has a useless family background. I must admit, it took me a while to finish this one. The first time I started reading this, I ended up DNFing/pausing. So I ended up changing the media type. Book to the dramatized audiobook, but even that was too distracting and unbearable for me. In the end, the sweet spot was the normal audiobook at 2x speed, which I listened to while doing chores. The first book was a lot of worldbuilding, but I was not particularly a fan of how it was written. Felt like the author was telling me vs integrating within the story. I also felt like the character development was slow and repetitive, and the overall book could have been shorter-- but I do wonder if it was intentional for the build-up at the end and the next book. Overall the pace was rough, super duper slow most of the book and then super fast at the end in like two chapters. In the end, you need this book to feel the impact of the second book, but wish it were a bit shorter to get through. HAHAH

  • Running/Working and Audiobook

So I recently picked up casual running. It started with just doing a mile 2-3 times a week, because I told myself I can get it done in 10 mins and be done with it. It’s been about 3 weeks and have done a few 30 min runs and the game changer was…audiobooks (and slowing my mile pace). Only issue is…Libby cannot be downloaded onto the Apple Watch so I can’t go phone-free. I almost wish there is something smaller like iPod nano or even smaller, that can run Libby, Spotify and other apps that might be useful. I feel like this would be great for even kids who need less screen time and extra portable. My current solution: - Utilizing Audible’s $3/3month sale and sync with my Apple Watch - Spotify audiobook hours only for running and syncing with Apple Watch - Cheap tiny throwaway phone that runs Android 12? Give me more ideas if you got them!
