'Feel Free' is an interesting read insofar that the essays it contains are functionally a time capsule, commenting on a politics that has been left behind. This is not to say that 'Feel Free' is no longer relevant. These issues that Smith signals, elaborates and dissects are still very much present. Viewing this collection as a time capsule allowed me to be more introspective and reflective on what has changed in the ten odd years since Smith first wrote these essays. Add to this a prose that flowes easily and reflectes the intricacies of Smith's thinking and you get a very enjoyable read.
