(Disclaimer: I'm in no downplaying or talking crap about any romance sub genres. I mostly read romances (main ones are dark romances and romantic comedies), so I'm not saying any sub genres is better or worse than the other. This is just something that popped up in my mind)
So, I watched a video on book hot takes and one of the opinions were that romance genres sometimes perpetuate misogyny, which lead to me thinking about the type of romances that I enjoy and how toxic behaviors are shown in these books along with misogyny.
I recently discovered that I'm less likely to be upset with toxicity in dark romances where I'm expecting the morally grey/black characters to be toxic and the book makes them a little more of a better person. Even if they don't change much and keep their toxic traits. Compared to romantic comedies, where the main couple is supposed to be seen a morally good but when they show their toxic traits (that I personally have a problem with) and it don't get addressed or they don't grow from it, I'm left with an icky feeling.
Anyone feel the same or different opinion? Feel free to share. I hope I making any type sense with this 😅

I'm in pain like literally while reading this. And Ernest is the number 1 douchebag. I swear. And the more I read the more pain I feel because this is so stressful. THAT I HAD TO STOP. That is how bad the character has turned due to his obsession which I don't freaking understand.
