I adored this book. It was exactly the kind of light read I wanted this week and I'm so glad I had this available. It is cozy and cute and the characters kept making me chuckle. The author did a wonderful job of creating young characters who have authentic traits of youth but aren't full of tiresome angst or naivete. And I love that the adults in the story don't just write off the kids for being kids.

Loved it. Highly recommend. Will be looking for more books from this author.

I found this to be an enjoyable and fitting prequel to this series. I read the full series years back and recently discovered this prequel.

While Moiraine's youthful and often naive perspective can be easy to disagree with, I found it really fitting for someone in her position. She should be a bit naive and entitled at this point, a bit single-minded and rash, but it shows where she came from. I found that view nice, and it allows the reader to fill in the gaps and see how she would grow into the person we see later.
