I have been going back and forth on where I land on this rating. I loved this story. I was highly engaged, a fantastic unreliable, unlikable main character, and at times some funny but dark inner monologue. However, the ending fell flat for me. I felt like the book had more to say but didn’t. I understand why people are upset with how so much was left unsaid. I hate that all the blame and hate falls on Natalie but then again, that is how the patriarchy works. As much as Natalie is a narcissist, she is also a victim.

“Humans. For the most part, you are dull and blundering. But occasionally, you can be remarkably bright creatures.“
I love octopus and the shining star is Marcellus. Could have had more of him. Tova was lovely. And Cameron does grow on you but man he sucks in the beginning. We might all know how the story is going to end but it is such a lovely heartwarming story. Having said that, the story does drag a bit. I think this could have been shorten and be just as beautiful.
