Everything I’ve heard about this book is SO polarizing. It’s either a life changing series or the worst writing someone has ever witnessed 🥲 I am nervoussss, haha.

Finally finished Part One and it’s definitely starting to pick up! I was having a hard time getting through the first fifty pages or so… I felt that it was a little repetitive with setting the scene of a stay-at-home mother grappling her new role. I’m ready for the dog!

I am confused why Isla is consistently relying on her training from Poppy and Terra, would have been found out and lost the games if it wasn’t for them… yet was against following their plan to make Oro fall in love with her to advance I’m the quest and take some of his power. Their lessons and expertise is all she has to succeed in breaking the curse, and she has so much trust in them… so at this point it feels a little bizarre that she won’t follow their plan to save her realm. All we got was one sentence where she said she just wouldn’t do it, implying for moral reason but no actual exploration of this big aspect of the plot. Anyone else confused with this at this point? Did I miss something? 🧐 Weird writing style with how the author breaks up the paragraphs, like Aster was trying to build suspense for sentences that just aren’t that impactful. So it has taken me some time to adjust to the style. Nonetheless, story is fun andddd I’m having FUN. 😂

Probably the only book iirc that I couldnt even finish saying wtf. Was not expecting it to be a horror movie style of a story. Also weirdly enough, I was listening to it on my drive and when I got home, I saw this bunny on my front lawn, staring at me. Ive never seen a bunny around my place before, and the fact that it was not startled by the garage door opening, me opening and closing the car doors was just eerie. Theyre cute though, so Ill get over it haha

💊 From the Queen of Argentinian mystery and crime 🇦🇷 Encompassing the span of a day, we are taken on an elderly woman’s journey through Buenos Aires to investigate her daughter’s death. 🔍 Exploring concepts of autonomy, morality, age, illness, religion, and a mother’s intuition, Piñeiro expertly keeps us on our toes in a world where time is determined by a fighting woman’s medicine schedule. ⏰ Although the book is quite short, this one took me about a month as I found the writing style challenging and unlike anything I have ever read before… which is always a good thing in my eyes. 3 stars for this one-of-a-kind novel ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Y’all I was IN IT for the first portion, Saeris was a starving thief in the desert slums beating up the evil Queen’s guards… and I was ROOTING for her… however… the MINUTE she went to the Fae realm it was dull and boring for me 🥺😩 I felt like this needed a few more revisions and much less plot holes for it to be as impactful as it could have been. 😵💫

Hey pagebounders 👋 just curious to know what some of you do when listening to audiobooks?

I am really torn on DNFing this, I'm not really enjoying it, but oddly enough I am finding the audiobook very easy to follow? I am listening while I am working and I am able to follow what is happening pretty easily, that never happens for me. If I am not reading along with a copy of the book I will ALWAYS tune an audiobook out haha.
