  • Yay my first quest! And it’s WoT! ⭐️⏰🗡️

Hello! I’m so excited for this quest for a few reasons:

    1. My first quest on Pagebound
    2. WoT has been on my reading list for a while now because I struggle to read less that 5 tines
    3. I’ve been struggling to prioritize what I want to read so I have about 10 books (plus two audio books) in my reading rotation 😭 I’ll be using this quest to help me better prioritize my ‘currently reading’ list. Thank you Devin to creating the quest. I absolutely love dense, slow burning, lore heavy, long series! I love love loooove it when a series has has 3 books in the series but each book is at least 800-1000 pages or if the series is 5+ books AND lore heavy! 🤓🧙🏻‍♀️

I read this book around 2016-2019 and I still remember exactly how I felt reading it. My breathing becoming shallow, my brows coming together, palms slightly sweaty against my e-reader, and worst of all, a tightness in my chest so tight, I had to switch from sitting to laying flat on my back. I almost didn't finish reading it because of how uncomfortable I was while reading this book...

The literary world considers this book to be a work of dystopian and literary fiction, I consider it a warning. The Handmaids Tale is a harrowing tale of what happens when we strip women of their autonomy by systematic and forceful means. I have read many books but very few have made me feel the way The Handmaid's Tale made makes me feel. Rage, sorrow, empathy, and a call to action. If I'm in my late twenties now, that means I was somewhere in my late teens to very early twenties when I had read this book. This is the book that planted the first seed of radicalization into me. I consider this book to be a part of the most important books of the modern age and I believe it should be on every reader's reading list. This book is absolutely amazing and in my opinion, life changing.

  • Excitement = Book overload?!

I would just like to disclose that I'm a new user, and I'm not done completing my lists yet! 🤓 📚 🖤

For about 4 years my health was declining, and I had to stop reading. Well, a few months ago, my health has been on a positive slope, and I've been able to read again (yay!). From there on out I hit the bookshops and thrift stores 💃. Now I have 10 books in my currently reading rotation. I'm grateful to be in a position to have all of these books and to be healthy again, however, I feel like this is not sustainable in regard to developing a genuine connection with the literature. How do you guys stay decisive with your reading list, and what are some guidelines that you enforce in order to choose what gets considered your highest priority? How do you calm yourselves from starting another book when you haven't finished the one you're currently reading?
