This one was just ok for me. I picked this one up after a 5-star read, and I had high expectations for it, all things that impeded my overall enjoyment of this book. Dark fantasy isn't usually my cup of tea, and this one was no different. I didn't enjoy the world building & magic system. The world felt flat and the characters frustrating. Might not be a series I continue.

This story was advertised as sapphic, and I really lost hope of that being true about halfway through, then fully pulled me back in to believing it at the end. This story is so very imaginativly descriptive, I was enthralled by the eerie themes and the way the gods were described genuinely creeped me out at times.

"Traveling through thick woods with a trope of goblins is not unlike a nature hike with a group of grumpy toddlers with weapons."
I love this quote.
