I wish there had been more battles so they could have more opportunities to shout "Truth and Courage"

Every so often I think about the novels I read a kid. I'm typically reminded of series that I read into my adolescence with much of Rick Riordan populating those memories, as well as the odd flicker of Eragon (typically as its movie adaptation). On the rare occasion though, The Ranger's Apprentice pops up, and reminds me of how much I loved the series despite how little staying power it has. Its just such a strong memory despite how uncommonly I mull over the experience, so I was curious to hear of any similar experiences that others might have. Are there other books that feel forgotten to both time and your own memories, but still hold a special place in your heart?

I'm heading to the cottage next week and looking for a good book or two to take with me. Think deep covered porch overlooking a lake. Hammock. Drinks. I'm looking for fantasy or thriller I think but I'll take any 6 star recs. I do have two kids, so I'll need to pick it up and put it down a bunch - so maybe nothing to complicated. Help please!

I just had this idea - I think it would be nice to be able to track your own progress in the books you’re currently reading and according to your progress you’re able to see posts that are set at around the same progress. For example if I’m tracking that I’m 50% in a book I can only see posts that are related to up to 50% of the book. If you want to see all posts of a book you could be able to disable that. I’m not sure if this explanation makes sense haha but that way you would be able to directly see posts that are related to where you are in the book and you won’t see spoilers unintentionally if someone forgot put that the post included spoilers.

I'd like to read fiction that centers on mermaids, not necessarily romances, but rather something more on the horror side or even high fantasy. Any ideas?

Hello wonderful Pagebound friends, I recently accepted an offer to become the adult activities supervisor at my local library. Yippee! So I come for inspiration... *Other than book clubs* - which we have several of already - what sort of events/classes/etc for grown ups would you be interested in attending if they were held at your library? Please be as specific or general as you'd like. I'm going to make a big brainstorming list to (hopefully) impress my boss with :P

I'd love to know what some of your favorite epic/high fantasy series are 🤗. I'm talking series you can't stop thinking about and that equally ripped out your heart and filled you with all the warm feelings. Give me a tall dark cup of all of the grimdark reads, full to the brim of action, tragedy, mythical creatures, betrayal, love and the like. For me, it's a tie between John Gwynne's Faithful and the Fallen and Ryan Cahill's Bound and the Broken 🙌🏾. I love them dearly, but I also lost a some years off my life in the process 😂

Curious - are you able to read from anywhere? I feel like I can read in most places, but if the environment gets too overstimulating, it definitely becomes harder to focus. I know some people can’t read in public places like coffee shops because it’s too loud or distracting, but for me, I can usually zone in on my book pretty easily. Sometimes I’ll put in noise-canceling headphones to help, but honestly, I don’t always need them. Reading while traveling is usually fine for me - I can read in a car, on a bus, or on a plane. But if the ride gets too bumpy, it kind of throws me off. It’s like the words won’t sit still, and that makes it hard to stay focused. I know some people get headaches or feel sick when they try to read in motion, so I’m glad that’s not really an issue for me… unless the ride gets really rough—then I’m definitely putting the book down for a bit. Also, I'm curious what format you prefer. Do you read on your Kindle, phone, or another device? Or are you more into physical books? I use both, but there’s something nice about actually holding a book, especially when I’m trying to unplug for a bit. Would love to hear how others feel about reading on the go and in different environments!
