"I have been so many things. On every continent on Earth. And yet I have never found the life for me. I am resigned to being this way for ever. There will never be a life that I truly want to live for ever. I get too curious. I get too much of a yearning to live another way. And you don't need to make that face. It's not sad. I am happily in limbo."

The way I immediately felt so seen. This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine where the prompt was: "If you could choose 1 power, what would it be?" And I answered with immortality.

I don't want to leave this world, I don't want to miss out on all the books, tv shows, films, art and more that will come out long after I'm gone. I don't want to just stick to one thing for the rest of the only life I'll (probably) have. I want to travel the whole world, learn every language there is, study anything and everything I'm interested in, try every hobby and so much more. And the only thing holding me back is time. If only I had more time.

I'm just starting books left and right, oops, but I don't care because I've been wanting to read this book since I borrowed it from my cousin, so it's time!

While I was initially drawn in by the evocative prose, 200 pages in I’m finding it somewhat…repetitive. O’Farrell is definitely a fan of synonyms and alliteration and repetitive run on sentences which in the beginning were intriguing and descriptive but are now a little - dare I say - boring. For 200 pages, not much has actually happened, and there has been little commentary on the societal elements on the time which fostered Shakespeare’s success, only vague (and again repetitive) condemnations of domestic violence. Hoping the pace builds soon, because I want to enjoy this book.

    Mini review

I already finished this book, but I still wanted to create a post just to say that this was one of the best reading experiences ever. This book is so near and dear to my heart. It's like the author reached inside my brain and gifted me with a book that ticked every single box.

Truly an incredible book and I cannot wait to read Alix E Harrow's entire bibliography this year

I'm starting my first non-fiction of the year, and it's pretty interesting so far!
