So. Yesterday I found some tiny signs of mould on my paperbacks, so had to rip all my romances off the bookshelves (apparently it's still too close to the window, and with the UK's hormonal weather changes this summer it's ruined my carefully curated shelf plannnns). Luckily i'm having a week off next week to paint the hall, put up loads of shelves and rearrange. Sigh. But, long story short - I am staring at my current book with bad associations (OCD is irritating), and need a short book thats fun and bingeable to stave off the bad mood slump that's oncoming. Any ideas?

I absolutely LOVE enemies to lovers (in a bit of a phase - or maybe it's permanent; can't tell yetđ), but I find that most recs aren't really enemies to lovers (or at least, not my definition of it). Most either - 1) End with, "Well, aCtUaLlY, I've loved you this whole time!" - So... you were never enemies? 2) Are enemies for all of 5 seconds and then they're obsessed with each other. 3) Are closer to civil rivals and / or have a basic dislike for each other. My idea, in simple terms, of E-L is: If there is no attempted murder or harm / wish of attempted murder or harm (or at the very least - utter humiliation) from either or both sides, are y'all even enemies? But... what I want (need) is the tension! The BANTER! Give me the FMC and MMC who despise each other to the point where they would gladly kill the other, BUT they can't because of a spell or because of a reason one needs the other alive. Give me the MMC who uses his words then instead to try and strangle the FMC, except she isn't falling for that and fires back equally powerfully (aka Beautiful Banter). Forced Proximity? YES. PLEASE.đ± And EVENTUALLY (emphasis on eventually - slow burn) they fall in love! I want to see them get to know each other, and how their view of the other changes. Also, if it can be achieved with no to low spice. That's my perfect enemies to lovers. When do you consider a book to be enemies to lovers? And, if anyone has recs, please share.đ

It's been on my TBR for SO LONG. Then it was picked as my suggestion for the bookclub but no one read it. Not even ME. I read a few pages but wasn't into it. Now that I'm on vacation I feel it's the right time so LET'S GET CRACKING
