I know it’s hard to pick which 3 or 6 badges you display on your profile, and not everyone thinks to go to your stats.
So I thought it could be fun to make a thread where you can show off your badges in the comments, and get some well deserved praise!
Just screenshot your badges from your “Stats” tab and add the image. Postimages.org is a great way to do this, as it will generate a link for you. Then just use the Markdown format:

I won’t be adding mine! I don’t want this post to come off as self-promoting or point farming. I just want to see everyone’s beautiful badges and give everyone a space for some praise! 👏🏻

Here we are with a pet peeve before page one. "Little did they know...". That has got to be one of the laziest, most cliché phrases.

I love the way this book is written. Kimmerer's prose immediately hooks you in and allows you to feel connected to not only her or the book, but to the natural world surrounding us (even more so than usual). I love the way she writes about the birds and the berries.
The part about Indigenous populations not forcing nature to bend to their habits but instead moving with nature is beautiful. We often don't think too much about how much we've changed plants and animals.
EDIT: I just thought of something interesting. Kimmerer talks about how serviceberry bushes always know and signal when it is springtime. Every year in NC, there are two weeks at the start of the year when the trees think it's finally spring and begin to bloom out, but then a hard freeze comes and almost kills them off. But the bushes and shrubs always know exactly when the last hard freeze has passed. It's kind of funny.

Everyone is writing about the opening sentence, when discussing the first page (also loved that it starts like that btw 😍), but let's talk about this sentence:
I haven’t seen a lot of dead bodies in my life—I’m only fourteen, and baking’s not exactly a high-mortality profession—but the red stuff oozing out from under her head definitely wasn’t raspberry filling.
What struck me, in between the humour, is the first part. She hasn't seen a lot of dead bodies. You are not supposed to have seen any at that age, let alone a lot 😬.

Don’t love that one of the emojis for this book is the broken heart 💔 I fear I might be emotionally distraught in the future.
