I can't help but wonder how exactly this book was interpreted back in1872. What would have been going on in my mind if i were a maiden reading it then? Cuz now all i think is GAYYYYY

It's probably my bad for deciding to read it after having watched F1 for 18 years. I was hoping for more racing but it is what it is, a bit cringey romance book set in the motorsport world, it's not bad in it's own lane. It did crack me up at times though! Enjoyed the fantasy of no homophobia in the spot but that's about it.

I don't know what cracked me up more, one of the drivers being called Yorris or the fact that Alonso made the cut 🙈🤣 it's also funny how the sport is not even on the back seat, but like in a trailer behind the car and in the turns we remember it's there..

The book had a lovely representation of polyamory. That being said while I enjoyed the dragon content the book was a quite slow and predictable for my liking. For this reason it took me way longer to finish than normal as my attention kept jumping away.

Anyone else grieving this book a bit? I absolutely love the world building and the story, but as the trilogy is progressing I find Violet and Xaden's relationship more and more annoying. It might just be that the "tall dark and brooding boyfriend" allure lost its edge for me or my queerness finally got to the point that I can't help but cringe on problematic straight romances, but the number of times I roll my eyes has significantly increased. Instead of highlighting the cool parts of the book to show my fiancée I highlight parts where I cringed so I wouldn't cringe alone.
