was really excited about this community, but being unable to express an unpopular but non-harmful opinion without receiving insults and hate and downvotes is not a fun experience. People repeatedly misrepresented my opinion, and instead of engaging would just down-vote and move on. This is just like every other social media site I've been on with an upvote/downvote system. Much prefer sites that have a like/report system instead. I have heard all the feedback that my opinions are not welcome here
reposted bc the only person who commented was someone who was also arguing with me, so their comment was in bad faith. I blocked them. before you judge me for one comment (I mentioned that seeing bengin positivity as negative is a sign of depression) look at the first comments in the thread I had that blew up, and you can see I was pretty straightforward, and then immediately this guy pounced one saying I'm overreacting and that it's not a big deal, and kept straw manning me. Basically Reddit ass shit, so yes, I am leaving. if you guys want to have a culture where every unpopular opinion is downvoted to oblivion, cool

insufferable, bad. main character is boring. doesn't make any interesting observations about life just navel gazing. writing itself is beautiful.

Saw someone with gender critical (code for TERF if you didn't know, now you do) in their bio which immediately made me feel immensely uncomfortable SOOOO lets flood this thread with your fave trans books and why you love them!! 🏳️⚧️🫶
I have so many faves that it's hard to pick, but one of my top faves is definitely Heir to the Autumn Court by Elle Porter! It features a fae princeling putting together their court, which happens to be a bunch of beautiful (mostly trans) guys.
Editing to add that if you think a book counts as trans, it probably does!! Any genres are encouraged 🫶🫶 (also have been LOVING how much of a range y'all have been recommending! It's cool to see y'all talk about books I haven't heard of yet!!)

Imagine if we could read our ebooks WITHIN Pagebound?? Like, if we had an option to upload our own ebooks to our personal profile and open it within Pagebound (so basically to have an e-reader function).
My ideal version of this would have an ability to listen to the book, like for instance the app ReadEra where the automated voice reads the words, as I'm using screenreaders whenever I can. Also, it would be amazing if we could highlight parts of the book within pagebound as well.
This is me just putting my fantasy out into the universe! I know this would probably be technically challenging and I'm not trying to put pressure on the founders!

For those of you who buy physical books, what's your favorite "special" edition you own? Could be signed, sprayed edges, special binding/cover, whatever.
Mine is my signed copy of The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig with a sword design on the sprayed edges (B&N edition) 🤩 I read the book on my Kindle first and then loved it so much I wanted a special copy so I bought it on a resale site for an annoying amount of money. But she's BEAUTIFUL so I love her :) I even painted a bookmark to match the sprayed edges :)

I’ve been using this app for a couple weeks now and I am so incredibly obsessed with it! I’ve always wanted to have a space where I could connect with other bookworms and share my thoughts/experiences.
I love this app and the community I’ve been building through the worlds of the stories I read and love (or hate lol). I’ve always been my biggest critic and held fear around sharing my thoughts to others (on social media specifically). Whereas here, I feel excited to do so, with no pesky inner critic.
So thank you, to the creators of this app, to the connections I’ve made, and to the many connections I hope to make along the way. 🧚🏽💚✨

"At the crossing from Desire to Greed, where desire run dry, and lovers think only of themselves."
😭😭 for me this reminds me of heartbreak that numbed my desire for connecting to anyone at all

wanted to make a post as a PSA and also a discussion topic.
my library's app has a section where i can suggest books to add to the collection, and over the years this has been an awesome way to get more queer and feminist literature into the collection. the last couple books i requested, they ordered a few copies, and by the time i noticed my request was granted, one was completely checked out already so i had to put it on hold!! which was super exciting to see that other people are interested in what i suggested.
so im wondering... have you requested any books? does your library usually approve the books, or what is the process like?
the books i recently requested were
A Country of Ghosts by Margaret Killjoy
Straight Expectations by Calum McSwiggan (this is the one that was checked out lol)
