    “Oh, shut up, Law.”

Finally Peter says the words I have been saying in my head since…chapter 3, maybe. Listen, I know her character is probably meant to be flawed and complicated and whatever the author had in mind, but I’m sure I have read more likable flawed characters than Alice 😬 and whatever Peter said earlier about sunk cost fallacy is soooo true because here I am still trying my hardest to get through this book. I think I’m just rooting for Peter at this point.

Locke is like if Kaz Brekker and Nikolai Lanstov had a love child that inherited 50% of Kaz’s terrible morale and the other half of Nikolai’s wit.

Is it just me or is it kinda weird that Yarrow, one of the only places that isn’t apart of the Empire, is also one of the only places that practices slavery? and is also described to be backward and barbaric, and greedy, whilst being one of the most important places geographically? Creative choice

I rarely read authors notes (red flag on my part?) and I was fully expecting my early criticisms to go unnoticed and thought I was having a “too woke” moment but i appreciate the acknowledgment that the depiction of Yarrow was weird. Great book
