This is a hill I’m willing to die on: the correct answer to the ”would you still love me if I was a worm” question is not yes. If I was a worm I would not be me anymore and a relationship with a worm is impossible. You can not love a worm. You can fight me on this.

GUYS please excuse me but I need to rant for a second. This rant is not specifically about this book but it is also NOT not about this book because why are all romance stories like this????? The first half of romance stories is always so sweet and I enjoy getting to know the characters and their chemistry is always on point. Then I get to the halfway point and everything goes downhill from there. The couple is usually more or less together or the characters have at least come to terms with their feelings about each other. BUT THEN every freaking moment the characters spend together is shadowed by The Looming Threat of whatever conflicts and problems might come up in the relationship. I'm so sick of it. I get that stories need to have some sort of conflict but is there really no other options? Also then we get to the infamous 3rd act breakup. Why do authors keep doing that, I swear I've never met a single person who likes this trope. What's even worse, the conflicts and all of the issues the couple have in the second half of the book are NEVER worth the payoff of them doing a little kiss at the end of the book and the author calling it a day after that. It's not very rewarding reading about the characters going through whatever shit that comes to the authors mind and then the reward is so underwhelming. Sometimes we get a cute little epilogue but after all of the shit I've been through reading these types of stories I don't even care for the couple at that point. If anyone has any recommendations of romance stories that aren't like this please hmu I need to restore my hope in romance stories.

I’m really struggling how to rate this book. This reading experience has been me figuring out in real time that I do not in fact like contemporary romance. This book did everything right: the healthy relationship and the yearning, the disability representation and full-fledged friendships outside the relationship. AND HOLY SHIT WAS I BORED. I really struggled to finish this and I’m glad I don’t have to read this genre anymore😅😅😅

I read this book in two sittings: first sitting by the riverbed watching the cherry blossoms, second in a park listening to the birds sing. I could have not picked a better book to read in these locations. I think this is the most beautiful book I’ve ever read, it’s like a modern fairytale. I’m speechless.

Happy Friday, fellow fiction fans!
Drop the first line or two of the book you're currently reading, and let fellow Boundlings try to guess the title and author. If no one gets it by the end of the day, come back and reveal the answer!
A few friendly guidelines: • Keep it to the first line or two only (no spoilers!) • Don’t include the title or author right away • Feel free to add a hint later if people get stuck
