Annie is insane…. I could feel Paul’s terror through the pages. I know it’s only the beginning so I can’t imagine what kind of unhinged is waiting for me.
Reading a bit slower than I expected - not sure if it’s the writing style or my rustiness (or tiredness; it’s my second book after yearS and I’m in bed sick). Hope my pace picks up as the book does.

Now I get the hype around the book and its twist — I actually started to dislike it leading up to the reveal, thinking the writing often fell flat and that the plot was getting absurd. Then it pulled me right back in.
I had taken a moment to piece the events together and while there seemed to be a few jagged edges, I chose gloss over them because I’ve not been so interested to finish a book in a long while.
Although still “put down-able” for me (the prose felt quite dry despite never failing to drive the plot forward), I definitely agree that it’s a good page-turner to welcome me back into the world of reading :)
