she/her If it were 2012, this would be that Doctor Who quote about books being weapons, a Hunger Games based hashtag (#girlonfire probably), and the link to my ff.net account (may she rest in peace).

Morte is an odd story for being incredibly old yet not the original telling of King Arthur but still the preeminent telling but also not the version most people today consume. As the introduction explains (and explains very well), Morte is the foundation for most modern King Arthur stories, and in that sense it is certainly worth reading for someone interested in the King Arthur stories.

This version is readable and accessible with great notes and glossed words. That said, its a story hundreds of years old, based off a manuscript from another manuscript of which parts are lost so information is pulled from yet another manuscript. Is this my favorite thing to read? No. I probably wouldn't pick it up if not for my exams. But it is good enough and relevant enough to what I study that I am interested and engaged, and certainly, the Oxford edition is excellent.

Growing up, I had a personal disdain for this story because I was so incredibly creeped out by the Disney cartoon. I had never read it though. Now that I have, I wish my parents would have read it to me.

This story is absolute nonsense. It is like tracking a little kids thoughts for an hour and just going with the flow. What makes the story magical, however, is that this trip through the imagination makes no more sense than it needs to to move from point to point. It takes itself seriously as a children's story, but it's delightfully chaotic and free flowing.

Reading this makes me feel like I'm 7 years old and everything is something beyond itself and anything is possible.
