Best book Iâve read all year. I love vampire stories and this is one unlike most Iâve read. Excited to continue the series

I saw a tiktok of someone saying that even if you have only finished one book this year, you have read more than the average person and you can feel good about yourself. With comments like "It's crazy that the average person doesn't even read one book" And it made me think... First of all, I don't think this is true. According to my quick research the average person globally reads 7-12 books a year. I have read a handful of books in 2023 (not sure since I wasn't tracking back then), 18 books in 2024, and 55 books this year. It is a lot for me and people are always impressed when I tell them irl but I know that many people here and generally online read 100+ books a year. Also I mostly read nonfiction and usually only read 30 min a day. I'm proud of myself because it was a personal goal to just read more. But I really don't like to compare myself to other people. Some people have more time than others. Some people have other priorities. I don't feel like a better person, I don't feel like I read a lot. It makes me sad that people are so judgemental. I don't think it's bad if you don't read. You can acquire knowledge in other ways. It just annoyeeeeed me, I don't even know what point I'm trying to make. I don't think I will set a reading goal for 2026. I just want to enjoy books. And maybe disconnect from my devices for a little. What do you think about this? Am I overreacting?
