i am forever grateful for the one tiktok edit of victor vale for urging me to reread and bringing me back to this wonderful universe that i forgot how much i loved. i love this a million times more the second time around. it was 5 stars before and now it's 10. this is one of the books i don't want to hear criticism on because i simple DO NOT CARE. victor and eli are easily one of the most interesting characters that i've ever read about. these two characters portray a hero and anti hero dynamic with lines between good and evil that cross and leave you wondering.
⟡ "hate was too simple a word. he and eli were bonded, by blood and death and science. they were alike, more so now than ever. and he had missed eli. he wanted to see him. and he wanted to see him suffer. he wanted to see the look in eli's eyes when he lit them up with pain. he wanted his attention." ⟡
if enemies then why so intimate??? eli for the love of god just give victor some goddamn attention he's been yearning for it for 10 years.
⟡ "victor vale was not a fucking sidekick." ⟡
victor, victor, victor, victor.. mr bisexual greed personified (you can't have the golden boy and the ginger goddess too) my beautiful, glorious, manipulative, cunning pookie pie. my obsession with him is back in full force and it's never going away anytime soon. i think he might be one of my favorite characters of all time.
⟡ "and over the course of the last week, safe had ceased to be a place for sydney, and had become a person. specifically, safe had become Victor." ⟡
the. found. family. my heart could explode at how endearing victor, sydney, mitch and dol were. sydney is a cutie and so brave and resilient. i love how towards the end you could see a little bit of victor in her, that's her father alright he literally birthed her. mitch was so so adorable, loyal, likeable and HOT. i dont think anyone could hate him. i love how protective both victor and mitch were over sydney. my beautiful family pls i hope nothing happens to them.

Desperately looking for book recommendations that are similar to one dark window with gothic fantasy elements.
It has been over a year since I read this book, and I still constantly think about it. Any recommendations would be appreciated !
The recommendations don’t have to be similar to this book, I’d take recommendations that you think I would like !

the possibility of real human invaders was scarier than the ghosts itself i won’t lie. the ending felt a little too optimistic otherwise a fun ride. darcy coates does a perfect job with the pacing and twists to keep me hooked throughout.
