crazy that this is only available on audio! i love the different spotify chapter art. but i HATE the male narrator’s voice. you’re telling me this is a real person and not an AI? or actually even an AI sounds more like a real person this is bad narrating software SURELY?!

I apologize in advance for anyone who loves this book but I simply cannot stick with it until the real story starts. I slogged through 42 pages and I simply cannot get myself to read more. I commend all Bronte fans for their fortitude.

An introduction to the Classics, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

this was fun when i got 50% of the way in. i liked the fairly small in scale mystery and i thought jane, deepti and luke were cute. you can’t get away from a patronising, colonial vibe with these novels but i’ll take that deepti and arjun were somewhat complex. i could have a read a book (perhaps by a different author!) solely on their lives and thoughts and how they navigated the situation they were in. ditto for cromwell and annette i thought they had an actually interesting story though it was just tossed aside. the writing style didn’t feel hugely sophisticated and i hated the way things were RANDOMLY CAPITALISED. i don’t feel like jane would ever do that. but ultimately i can’t complain because i read most of this book with a glass of good white wine in a bathtub in a cotswolds hotel and it was fun so!!!
