After reading the first bit of this forum (and other fantasy series recently) im just going to drop this in here - you are absolutely not SUPPOSED to know what is happening ~50 pages in to a 500 page book and especially not when its fantasy. The whole point of reading is to uncover the story as you go - if you understood it all immediately, why would you even bother? This is a brand new world - let the author unveil it as we go and just hang on for the ride. Take a mental note of questions you have and then keep reading because they will be answered at some point.

Applying a need for instant gratification to reading is a really good way to never enjoy reading. Just take a breath and keep reading
