I bet that the book dosent make any actual sense amd like everything is a mystery and a coincidence of sorts but the story is actually so beautiful and also kinda real I mean how everything changes in ellie life due to this fabled island and the whole part of the moving island is crazy but it exists like the story is basically about how crazy and unnatural things exist and also the whole love story between ellie and clay is really sweet and then she gets closure by meeting James and finally we get to know about the outside world and its all dystopian and like hoe ellie realizes how crazy everything is that the world exists outside their island and how much time has passes... The ending is good, the world is rebuilding and surviving and ellie is pregnant and clay gets a good ending and they survived and just wow I loved it so much Stories don't need to make total sense like I am not reading a real life article or smth so despite not knowing how the world works, I as the reader am quite content with it I don't know what to say honestly these are simple my thought after just finishing it like I wasn't expecting that ending and was surprised by it like upto half of the book it was all about their love and ellie going back and then their survival so the end was kinda unexpected but loved the ending so muchh Also they totally avoided like world wars by staying on the island like the island kept them alive and they kept it alive...
