Holy crap. I donât even know where to start with this one.
Innamorata is dark, gory, unsettling and completely addictive. This was my first Ava Reid book and she absolutely did not disappoint. Her writing is hauntingly beautiful while also being deeply disturbing in the best possible gothic way. I went into this expecting a gothic fantasy, and she absolutely delivered.
The atmosphere is rich, eerie, and drenched in dread. The story leans hard into necromancy, vengeance, and twisted love, creating a world that feels both grotesque and mesmerizing. Innamorata follows a dark tale of revenge and forbidden love tied to death magic and political intrigue, and the result is as haunting as it is compelling.
There were multiple moments where I genuinely thought âwhat the hell did I just read?â and yet I couldnât stop turning the pages. Itâs one of those stories that makes you uncomfortable, but in a way that completely pulls you deeper into the narrative.
This book is strange, grotesque, and utterly fascinating. If youâre looking for a gothic fantasy that fully embraces the darkness, this is it. I finished it both horrified and desperate for more.
IMPORTANT: Please check the trigger warnings before diving into this one. This story does not hold back!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Del Rey for this arc!
