i am on lookout for recommendations! who is your favourite sapphic couple? even if the rest of the book is meh! i don’t mind any genres (i am very partial to SFF but anything for the best sapphic couples lol). i tend to gravitate towards femme couples but open to any!

i just finished priory of the orange tree and i really love the sapphic couple in it (i don’t want to spoil). i also loved the sapphic couple in a dead djinn in cairo/a master of djinn and this is how you lose the time war.

a big bonus if they have a lot of scenes together!

a lot of people kept saying to me that it’s overhyped. i knew it was a sapphic SFF (my favourite) so i decided to borrow this from the library. i kind of went in not expecting anything to be absolutely blown away from the start. like, i was so super immersed in this book. this hasn’t happened for a very long time.

i absolutely adored the main sapphic couple. i love them both individually and together. normally i don’t like slow burn but this pacing felt really natural. their relationship grew organically for me, and i was absolutely rooting for them to be together.

i loved the characters. even characters i didn’t like, i enjoyed reading about them which doesn’t happen often.

i loved the world building. it does take a long time to build to get to anything but for some reason i really enjoyed this. they way the shannon writes i loved, it’s lyrical but also accessible?

i loved the twists! a few i predicted which still overjoyed me when i found out i was right, some i was SHOOKETH!

the “cons” is minimal and doesn’t take away from the book: -i didn’t like how the writer broke immersion a bit with “five and twenty” instead of “twenty five”, “connexion” instead of “connection” and other similar things. i know it’s fantasy but it didn’t feel like it belonged here. -i didn’t like how sometimes it takes me a while to figure out who is speaking or doing the action until the author says it so it was slightly frustrating -climax was a bit rushed -some characters i wished had more development or “page” time (instead of screen time, geddit????)

I kinda don’t want to finish the book. It is honestly such an amazing read so far and the thought to finish so soon makes me sad. It’s the first time this happened in a long time.

Although I have A Day of Fallen Night out of hold today so I better finish this to start reading it!
