i used to read 2 books at a time, depending on my mood. one heavy, and one causal/cosy. but recently iāve been struggling with that. when i do that i tend to forget about one book and focus on the other. but i see some people can read multiple books at a time! iām just curious, why/how you do this?
like iām reading the city of brass and i am loving it so far, but i am also tempted to start reading mistborn too after hearing all about it so i bought it š this addiction is real!

I love seeing all the bookish goals folks have been sharing. It got me thinking, what are some new reading habits or practices you'd like to try this year? Some examples of mine... ⢠Be more active in the Pagebound community. ⢠Read Outside of my Home. i.e Cafes, Long Drives, audiobook while Browsing/Shopping. ⢠Get back into annotating.

To see so many new folks online (especially here) joining genuine bookish culture. Books are so important to quality of life and increasing empathy. It also helps with critical thinking, which we all need more of! šš

If I have an extended amount of time to read something I usually try to find a thematic playlist or video on YouTube for background noise. Iām curious if anyone does this? Or has a similar audio ritual they have for reading time?
For example I just started reading Blood Meridian for the first time which is a western. So I started this session listening to Wilderness Campfire Ambience from the game Red Dead Redemption 2 on YouTube. 11/10 immersion for this book for anyone else reading it btw!

I wanted to like this book, the premise is right up my alley but, it was to dude bro for me. I hear the series gets better but Iām not invested in the characters enough to continue the series.

If u finish a book at 12am (or the middleb of the night) do u put it as the day before or the day u finished it on?
For example, if u were reading a book at January 1st And finished it at 12 or 1am (which are technically January 2nd) do u put it as finished on the 1st or 2nd? Or does it depend on how u feel. For me it depends on how i feel.
This is just a silly question i got because i started reading a book today (the 1st), now its 11pm and im almost done with it tho i will finish it at midnight (12am) but i will put as finished on the 1st not the 2nd. Because idk. I feel like no, i finished it TODAY (the 1st) not TOMORROW (2nd) (ik the 2nd is technically today if its 12am, not tomorrow but its just a feeling. Do yall get what i mean? I feel like im speaking in riddlesš).
What do yall think?

I love to start my oil diffuser, light a candle and get my tea/coffee in order before I read or write a single word sometimes lol

first i used goodreads. it was the only one i knew and i quickly got put off. also didnāt want to feed into amazon.
then i googled, and storygraph was recommended. i love the stats⦠but the UI is horrendous. really is. itās so ugly too.
then reddit recommended fable. i liked it! i didnāt like that there was no desktop mode, and some stuff was missing for me. liked the stats, but not easy to follow, some things behind paywall. i do like the reading streak though, and it is such a pretty app.
but then a friend recommended pagebound. i love it so much! indie run by two women, anti-AI? gorgeous, easy to use! i especially love the forums, the quests and the points. iām a gamer so this feels at home for me lol. love the desktop mode if i fancied going on my macbook. so i deleted fable!
thank you for making this happen. i feel at home here.
p.s. iād love a reading streak thing and some sort of stats on here.
