Wow, that was honestly such a rush and I had the best time reading the book. I felt such an emotional attachment to Rocky instantly and I just loved the execution of this book as a whole. The flashbacks, the learning and communication between Rocky and Ryland, the step by step wawe got of the whole problem and mission in general. A lot of times when a book gets to sciencey or technical I feel like I start to get lost or tune it out, but the authors writing was perfect for the story. He broke it down really well, I even felt a little smarter after reading lmao. Honestly, chefs kiss. What a book, I can’t wait to see how it translates to a film

I think there was some good some bad here, I felt the romance was pretty weak in terms of “enemies to lovers” I think it falls kind of flat, someone said it was very YA romance and I think that’s a really good way to describe it. I thought the magic system was interesting, but felt like we barelyyyyy got to see any of it in action. I think the plot was on the predictable side, but I liked the way it was set up, and I was not expecting that death at the end. </3 I was originally going to rate this lower, but the ending picked up a lot and I feel I’m intrigued enough to read the next one!
