I was watching a K-drama and the FMC mentioned that she’d started rewriting books she really loves by hand. Like, the ENTIRE book.

And honestly, I found that kind of fascinating? 😭 I’ve never thought of doing that, but I can see how it could be weirdly relaxing, especially with a book you really love.

Has anyone here ever actually done this? Or do you have a similar book-related hobby?

I’ve been reading The School for Good and Evil recently, and it got me thinking: what makes a fairy tale a fairy tale? I’ve read a few fairy tale retellings and liked them, but do they count as fairy tales in their own right, or are they just a spin-off? Also, does having magic make it a fairy tale, or is there something else that really sets fairy tales apart? The Google definition is “a children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands.” But I'm curious whether people agree with this definition or have different criteria.

Hello, it's my birthday, and I've received coupons from Kobo and Bookoutlet. 95% of the books I read are on my e-reader through my library. I'm hesitant to buy books because I fear I may not like them, so I prefer library copies. Recently, I have been trying to grow my physical collection. Since I have these coupons, I'd love to get books that I'd want to read. I find it hard to describe my tastes, but here are some books I've liked recently

• The Caretaker (I'm new to horror but found this engaging)
• My Husband by Maud Ventura (I love reading about characters that are a little bit unhinged; Julie Chan is Dead and Yesteryear fall into this category too)
• Vicious by V. E. Schwab (I like morally grey characters)
• The Strange Case of Jane O (Psychological thrillers)

So to summarize, I'm looking for psychological books where you follow a character and get to be in their mind. In terms of genre, I like speculative fiction & sci-fi (having to do with technology/the future, not aliens), and thrillers.
