Please tell me reasons why I should/should not read this book! I heard about it and read what it's about and I can't take it out of my head, yet I don't know if it is just a whim or I am actually interested/gonna like it!

Another interesting aspect is that Moscow was long considered the “Third Rome.” In this sense, the symbolic connection between Jerusalem and Moscow was mediated through Rome and Byzantium.
Toponyms also play a significant role in the novel. For instance, the Patriarch’s Ponds were once called the Goat Marsh. Some scholars suggest that this is why Woland appears there: in Christian tradition, the goat has long been associated with Satan, often depicted as a goat-like figure. In a sense, this marsh once belonged to him. Later, Muscovites renamed the area in honor of the Patriarch, and Woland’s presence can be interpreted as him reclaiming what was originally his.
