This book is recommended by so many online that I was excited to read it but now I'm already considering a DNF just after the introduction. Cameron goes to great lengths to insist the book isn't religious and to be open minded, but also heavily implies that our creativity comes from some outside source and that she will be using the word god a lot. That's just not a concept I jive with and I don't like having to perform mental gymnastics reframing every time god is mentioned just to get through a book. I don't know how useful this will even be for me. "Spiritual" is a vague catch-all used by religious folk and atheist alike so I didn't expect it to be so god centered.

that was kinda a gut punch to declare one’s self old at 27 🥹 but i guess times were different? for context she is a married woman who is unsatisfied in her dreary life with a husband that doesn’t satisfy her and i’m not sure love was really there. maybe the sagging description has to do with how haggard her meaningless life has left her and aged her 🙂‍↕️ and i guess different time period standards 🤗 But DAMN! as a modern reader who’s finally in their mid 20s 😱

(I'm reading the Spanish translation so I apologise if the pages or the concept seems different as I translate it back to eng for the post) I'm just on the introduction, explaining about the concept of God/Great Creator and how it's not trying to be religious, and if you don't agree with it to mentally change it to "flow" or "path", she says something like "do not let semantics get in the way".

I do see her point, but she is avidly and consciously using this concept/semantics, and that has its own weight, so it feels rather empty to tell the reader to not let it bother them if it's not aligned with their beliefs.

She also says "It's not about the name we use"... But it is! Choosing God/Creator over Universe/Path/Energy has certain beliefs/vision implied and rooted throughout the book.

I may change my impression as I read, but I'm not having the best of the introduction to the book with this! How do you feel about it?

I've been giving a lot of thought to the best way to sort my bookshelf and I'm curious, how do other people set theirs up?

Right now I have separated my books by format and then alphabetically by author. Separated by hard covers, paperbacks and mass market paper backs. I have my hardcovers on a riser and the mass market paperbacks go in front because they're short.

Also opinions on stacks? If I have a bunch of books by one author, in the same format I turn them on their side and stack them to save space

I've done other set ups in the past, I've organized by genre and then by author and I've even organized by height
