Sad and intimate, the two POVs show a beautiful and heartbreaking juxtaposition of how traumatic events can affect people differently. The lyrical writing floated in and out of the grief and joy seamlessly, finding pockets of the scenic east coast amongst the self reflection of the characters as they piece together how exactly to live through life. What a tragic story that is so vital to read and understand- after all, this novel is based on stories from the author's father.

So often we think about where we were on that day, glued to the TV and sitting in misery. However, the story of 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland is one of community, kindness, and tireless devotion to the "plane people" forced to ground in small-town Newfoundland. This book shows how even in the toughest of times, it is important to come together to support one another in big and small ways, and how that bond through tragedy can run as deep as your own family. The individual stories were entertaining and moving, and the conversational writing style of the author made this easy to follow. This has more stories than Come From Away, and it was nice to fill in holes in the story that the musical doesn't touch on.

Do you strictly read via e-reader, audio, or physical? Which do you see best results with?
I have a Kindle and can’t force myself to read on it! Audio is only used for work if I have to force myself to get a book done (cough, current book club read, cough). Physical is my preferred because I find myself reading wayyyy more and I can see the progress easily.
