I'm 200 hundred pages in and I hate Sabran with a passion, I need someone to tell me if she becomes less insufferable. I understand her being spoiled makes sense because she's the Queen but I cannot stand her 😭. I love the others characters but every time she's on page, which she is a lot with Ead's pov, I just want to close the book. That's really frustrating bc I like the plot and the wordbuilding.

Edit: ignore me - I misread N E Davenport as N K Jemison 😅 it's a completely different author! Don't mind me, this book stays at the top of the tbr 😁😁
Alright, I need help people... This book has been in my tbr for a while and I was excited to read it. Then I saw the audio book for Blood Trials came available at my library and gave it a listen. I really didn't enjoy it. I found the writing was just not good. But this book is getting so much love... What do I do?! My humble thanks in advance legends.

Currently working my way through this series - in the last book several new narrators were added, then in this book they've switched a few of them out. Lysander now has a vaguely South African accent, and Lyria, oh Lyria now had a bloody dammed British accent! The Irish is completely gone. Still a great production, but these changes were really jarring.

Kiva, girl, stand UP! Stop waiting for others to save you and save yourself! I felt disappointed with the book. I feel like it was centered too much around this supposedly great plot twist (more like predictable), but it only served to make me question the plot points and Kiva's character. It was hard to root for Kiva when everyone else saved her and she did none of the work. The worldbuilding and the romance felt flat. The writing felt like deja vu sometimes because it was so repetitive. I liked Naari and Tipp more than the main characters.

Good idea with lots of promise. Unfortunately I found the FMC not at all believable - they seemed determined to ignore what was right in front of them - and the ending had absolutely no scaffolding to.make it believable. Not sure if I'll give the second book a go...

Excellent book, the love between Crier and Ala is one for the ages. It didn't go unnoticed that all the straight male characters were manipulative bastards, and the only nice ones were queer - seemed a bit basic for what is otherwise an excellent story.

Is it just me, or is every supposedly 'good' male character in this book incredibly condescending and manipulative? I want to shake them so hard! 😩
