Embracing the body and reclaiming otherness, these books use horror to redefine notions of womanhood and monstrosity.

i wont give it a star rating because i DNFd this (at 60%)
i was excited for this because i loved Manacled when i read it last year, but i just did not enjoy this. maybe it was because i was trying to overlay this rewritten version over what i remembered of its original version, or because it was so much darker that it was actually difficult to root for the romance (coming from someone who loves horror romance). im not going to overcontexualise this but it’s helpful to put my thoughts down.

i was skeptical when i first heard about this book but once i started listening to it on commutes, when cooking, etc i almost wanted to take my time so i could listen longer. the writing itself is so compelling, and i quickly felt protective of our main character because i knew there was more to her story than it seemed. excellent book for weird girl fiction lovers

One of my favourite books of all time, one i’ve re-read multiple times, and one i recommend to everyone even if they think they won’t like it at first

Fitz you are so dumb sometimes but ily
Fitz is entangled more and more in court intrigue as a civil war brews in the Six Duchies. I love the atmospheric writing and the feeling that I truly never know where the story is going to head next. The ending was spectacular and I can’t wait to continue this series.
